December 1, 2017~ We had our primary and intermediate split house meetings today. We focused on Essential Rule #3 which says "Make Eye Contact~ When someone is speaking, keep your eyes on him or her at ALL times. If someone makes a comment, turn and face that person. We will continue to work on this throughout the month. We also studies the acronym SPECIAL to help us learn how to hold a conversation with others using good manners. We started the new trimester and were the House Winners for the week! Way to go, Gratia! Keep up the great work!
November Meetings~ We didn't have too many meetings in November, but I thought I'd catch you up on what we've been learning about. We focused on Essential Rule #2 which is saying thank you. We made leaf hands and put together a school-wide bulletin board of all the things we are thankful for. Then, on the 17th we got together for another whole house meeting. We LOVE those! We found out that Forte was again the weekly winner and 2 more students from each house earned their T-Shirts! We will be having our 1st Trimester Awards Assembly next week and we are so excited to find out which house earned the first big house award. We will also be focusing on making eye contact this month and learning how to carry on conversations with each other.
October 27, 2017~ Today was a GREAT day! We met with all 4 of the houses in a school-wide assembly! We had a lot of teachers out of the building today because they got to go to see the Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta, Georgia! While they were away, we thought it would be fun to play. We celebrated our House T-Shirt Award Winners (congratulations to Audrianna and Zyanna!), they got to spin the wheel for bonus house points, Mr. Herron did a lesson on bullying and not giving away your power and 4 students (one from each house) won a Kindle Fire for earning the most Manners Points in Class Dojo! WOW! Also, Forte took home the trophy for the 2nd week in a row for the House with the most points. It was so much fun seeing everyone cheer each house member on and enjoy being together! We sure hope we can do it again. So much FUN! |
October 13, 2017~ Today we met in our split houses today to focus on Essential Rule #2: "Always say thank you when I or someone gives you something. There is no excuse for not showing appreciation." We watched a video on 25 things to be thankful for and then made our own class list of what we are thankful for. The students had some great ideas! We will be continuing our reasons to be thankful lesson at the end of the month at our whole house meeting. There won't be a house meeting this next week as we have two days off on Thursday and Friday. Congratulations to the Forte House for winning the trophy this week!
October 6, 2017~ Today was rock painting day!
We painted our rocks based on the story "Only One You" by Linda Kranz. The kids did a great job and we are excited to see all of the fish in the finished Ponderosa "pond." Congratulations to Naskuni for earning the houe trophy this week!

September 29, 2017~
Congratulations to FORTE for winning the most house points this week! Today, we honored the two students from each house that earned the most house points. Those students got to take a house T Shirt and a reward home for them to keep! Gratia's winners were Andi Hunt and Eziah Not Afraid! Keep up the awesome work! Today we also started a whole school project based on the book Only One You. We are going to be painting our own unique fish to be placed outside in our "pond" in the parking lot. It is so fun to see the students working together, helping one another and being creative! We can't wait to see the finished product! September 22, 2017~ We won for the 3rd week in a row! Congratulations to all of the Gratia House for their hard work! We met to discuss more random acts of kindness. Our house decided to decorate Compliment boxes and place them around the building. We hope this encourages our staff and students to more give compliments. We will also be choosing one compliment each week from the boxes to read over the intercom! September 15, 2017~ Gratia House won again this week! We are doing fantastic and we even got a visitor during our house meeting. Pride the panther came to congratulate us. :) This week we are learning about surprising others with random acts of kindness. Miss Gordon read us a book and we discussed ways that we can show kindness to those we love and spend our days with. Ask your child how they plan to spread kindness this week. September 8, 2017~ We met with our Primary and Intermediate Gratia Houses today and discussed what Gratia House meetings should like and the behavior expectations for representing Gratia in a positive way. We created an anchor chart and the students came up with fabulous ideas to add as we discussed the importance of following school rules, being kind to one another and always trying our best. We got the BEST news today. Gratia House WON for the house with the most points this week. This is the first time EVER for Gratia and we couldn't be more excited! The students are doing a great job of having a great work ethic and representing Gratia well. Nice work!!
